Excerpt: The Sanctuary of the Office

Among them is Creed Bratton; now a fugitive living secretly in the office closet. Despite his bizarre past and impending arrest, the group does not shun him. Instead, they sit together on the office floor, listening to him play his original song, 'All the Faces'.

This scene perfectly illustrates the ideological triumph of acceptance over judgment. Throughout the series, Creed hinted at various felonies and bizarre behaviors. Yet, in this final hour, his past is irrelevant; he is accepted simply as a member of the family.

His parting words serve as the thesis statement for the episode's dominant ideology: 'No matter how you get there or where you end up, human beings have this miraculous gift to make that place home.' In this moment, accepting one's fate, even if that fate is handcuffs for Creed; is presented as the ultimate form of peace.
